The first instance of Estimating mass (grams and kilograms) is under the 4th grade (U.S.) Math Mission. This exercise practices estimating the mass of objects in grams and kilograms.
Types of Problems[]
There is one type of problem in this exercise:
- Estimate the mass: This problem has an object and asks for the mass that is most likely. the student has to use knowledge of the USCS system of units to arrive at an answer.
Estimate the mass
Strategies[]
This exercise is easy to get accuracy badges as long as the user can assume the mass of basic everyday objects.
- Common sense is helpful in this exercise (a candy bar is most likely grams, not kilograms (1000 grams)).
Real-life Applications[]
- Measurements are used for many things, such as cooking, and for placing carpet.
- Measurement is important for taking proper medicine. If one has an illness (whether serious or minor) they need to take their medicine and take it in the proper amount. If they take too little or too much then they are not going to get the proper benefit from it.
