Estimating length (mm, cm, m, km)

The first instance of Estimating length (mm, cm, m, km) is located in the 4th grade (U.S.) Math Mission. This exercise practices estimating the length of real life objects using metric units.

Types of Problems

There is one type of problem in this exercise:

1. Estimate the length: This problem has an object and asks for the mass that is most likely. Users have to use knowledge of the metric unit system of units to arrive at an answer.

Strategies

This exercise is easy to get accuracy badges as long as the user knows the length of basic everyday objects.

1. Common sense is helpful in this exercise (the length of a pencil is cm, not mm ($\frac{1}{10}$th of a centimeter).

Real-life Applications

1. Measurements are used for many things, such as cooking, and for placing carpet.
