The first instance of Estimating length (in, ft, yd, and mi) is under the 4th grade (U.S.) Math Mission. This exercise practices unit conversions in the United States Customary System.

  1. Convert units: This problem describes a situation and the user has to use knowledge of the USCS system of units to arrive at an answer.

Strategies[]

This exercise is easy to get accuracy badges as long as user knows the conversions in the USCS system. It is medium to attain speed badges because the conversion factors in USCS are not always pretty.

  1. There seem to be three major conversions that show up often. There are 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard, etc.

Real-life Applications[]

  1. Measurements are used for many things, such as cooking, and for placing carpet.
