Strategies[]
This exercise is easy to get accuracy badges because the what the problem expects is very clear and straightforward. The speed badges might be medium if students try to do it manually as most people do not know their times tables through 99.
- The standard division algorithm will ensure correct answers, but students will need to find something different if users want speed badges.
- A calculator goes against the spirit of the problem, but can increase speeds.
- The answers all seemed to come out as whole numbers here (maybe a terminating decimal can show up, but not often).
Real-life Applications[]
- Choreographers need to be able to divide the piece they want to perform, into smaller pieces so that everyone will be able to do and give their best, whether they dance or choreograph an orchestra. In the end of the day they need to flow together in harmony and they will use division to accomplish that.
- Division is used in group projects so the work is divided and each group member has their own role.
- Majority of law issues are arising now are about land division and who lived there first. This requires not just honesty, but also division.
