Strategies[]
This exercise is medium to get accuracy badges because numbers are small and easy to work with but user does need to be careful to see if user is dividing, or dividing then multiplying. Once they are aware of what to look for, speed badges are easy.
- Divide the large number by the smaller number. Then, if there is another number in the question, multiply by that.
Real-life Applications[]
- Rates and ratios are prevalent in much of the sciences, such as stoichiometry.
- Several of the problems in this exercise can be viewed as real-life applications.
- Comparing unit rates is useful for anyone that has to shop to buy food items for their household.
